NTL TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING GIRLS COME UP JUST SHORT IN SEASON OPENER AGAINST WILLIAMSON (2021-04-09)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — The Wyalusing girls fell in their season opener at home to Williamson 77.25 to 76.75 in NTL track and field action.

It was a match-up of two of the team tops in the league. The Rams had the edge in distance (24-3) and jumps (22-14) while winning two of the three relays. However, Wiliamson’s strength in the hurdles (15-0), throws (22-5) and sprints (15-12) was enough to get the win.

Wyalusing’s Marie Scarborough won the pole vault at 7-feet, as teammate Hayley Anaya (5-feet, 6-inches) was third.

Wyalusing freshman Olivia Haley (13.7) won the 100 and took second in the 200 (28.9) as teammate Mia Wilcox (31.0) was third.

Wyalusing went 1-2 in the 800 and the 1600. In the 800 Catherine Brown (2:45) topped teammate Sierra Allen (2:51), while in the 1600 Allen (6:12) edged Brown (6:27).

Carina and Kayla Beebe went 1-2 in the 3200 in 13:04 and 13:55.

Hannah Eley (4-feet, 10-inches) and Newton (4-feet, 6-inches) went second and third in the high jump.

Wyalusing’s Marissa Johnson (22-feet, 7-inches) was second in the pole vault with teammate Brooklyn Milne (65-feet, 1-inch) third in the discus. Emilee Otis (65-feet, 3-inches) was third in the javelin.

The Rams 4x800 relay of Beebe, Beebe, Kassandra Kerin and Allen won in 11:45.0.

Wyalusing swept the triple jump with Newton (29-feet, 2-inches), Taylor Spencer (27-feet, 4 3/4-inches) and Layla Botts (27-feet, 4 1/2-inches). Newton (12-feet, 8-inches) was second in the long jump.

The Ram 4x100 relay of Ely, Botts, Wilcox and Haley won in 55.9.

Kassandra Kerin (1:13) was second in the 400.

Wyalusing will host Troy next Tuesday.
