NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON ROLLS PAST SULLIVAN COUNTY (2021-04-24)

LAPORTE — For the third game this season the Canton Warriors softball team eclipsed the 20 run plateau, this time beating Sullivan County 24-6 in five innings during non-league softball action Saturday.

The Warriors had 19 hits in the contest as they scored 11 first inning runs.


Molly Ward (2-for-2) had three runs, Sarah Davy (2-for-3) scored a run, and had 2-RBI, Keri Wesneski (2-for-2), had a double with two runs, and 4-RBI, Katie Shay (2-for-2) had a run scored, and an RBI, Rylin Graham (2-for-2), scored three times, with 3-RBI, and Mae Kinner (2-for-5) scored three times while also knocking two runs in.


Also for Canton Emmi Ward (1-for-1) had a double with three runs, and 2-RBI, Sammy Brackman (1-for-3) scored a run with an RBI, Taryn Acla (1-for-3) had a triple with 2-RBI, Marisa Ostrander (1-for-1), scored a run to go with an RBI, Jillian Shay (1-for-2) scored three times, Allyson Butcher (1-for-1) scored a run, and had an RBI, and Racheal Martin (1-for-3) knocked in two runs.


Madison Hulbert, and Jillaney Hartford each scored a run as well.


Jillian Shay got the win, striking out three with eight hits, six runs, and one walk.


Canton’s first six batters reached between three hits, and three walks, as they would all score. After a strikeout the next eight batters would reach, with five of them scoring as the Warrior nearly batted around twice.


The Griffins would cut it to 11-2, but in the top of the second, Acla’s 2-run triple would get those runs back.


Canton would push their advantage to 17-2 in the third as Graham and Kinner led off with hits. After an out Davy, and Brackman had hits to score Graham and Kinner. Davy, and Brackman would later score themselves.


In the bottom half of the inning the Griffins made it 17-6 with four runs.


Canton would add three more runs in the fourth, as Jillian Shay, Graham, and Kinner all scored.


Then, in the final inning, Ostrander, Jillian Shay, Hulbert, and Graham all reached on three walks, and a hit batsman, with all four scoring for the final runs of the game.


Canton will now travel to NP-Liberty on Monday with 4:30 p.m. start.
