NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: CANTON'S NIEMCZYK MAKES ALL-STATE TEAM (2021-04-27)

Canton’s Isaiah Niemczyk had a career year for the Canton Warriors. The Junior nearly averaged a double-double as he helped his team return to the playoffs for the second year in a row.

On Tuesday, it was announced by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers, that Niemczyk earned a spot on the Class AA All-State team. He is a member of the second team, and is the only District IV player to make all-state.

“I really wasn’t expecting it, as a junior,” said Niemczyk. “I thought maybe next year if I had another good year I could maybe get it, but yeah, it’s awesome.”

Niemczyk is the second NTL player to earn an all-state spot, as NP-Liberty’s Noah Spencer made the Class A second team.

“(I would like to thank) my coach, Coach Kitchen, and all of my teammates,” said Niemczyk. “I definitely wouldn’t have gotten an honor like this without them. And my parents.”

Niemczyk is closing in on the school scoring record, and counts that as a big goal for next season.

“I want to have an even better year next year,” he said. “I’m playing AAU, and really trying to improve my game.”
