NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TROY'S BARRETT NAMED TO THE ALL-STATE TEAM (2021-04-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Troy’s Ty Barrett had one of the best season’s in Trojan boys’ basketball history, and that was recognized by the Pennsylvania Sports Writer’s Association with a spot on the All-State team.

Barrett was named to the Class AAA Second Team on Wednesday.

“It feels great to get this honor,” said Barrett. “But I also know I can’t be satisfied with it. It is a reward for a lot of hard work put in.”

The junior put up 27 points per game as he led Troy to an NTL title, and the District IV, Class AAA semi-finals.

He stepped up when the lights were brightest, scoring 39 points in an NTL clinching win over NP-Liberty, and 44 points in a district win over South Williamsport.

“It really pushes me to get better, and get to the next step,” said Barrett.

Barrett is the third NTL player to earn All-State in 2021. NPL’s Noah Spencer made it for Class A, and Canton’s Isaiah Niemczyk made the Class AA team.

And he isn’t the only District IV player to make All-State. Loyalsock senior Idris Ali was named the Player of the Year, with junior Saraj Ali on first team. Lancer coach Ron Insinger is the Coach of the Year, too.

Mt. Carmel’s Michael Balichik made second team, with Warrior Run’s Ethan Hartman on third team.

Barrett never got to play against them, though they originally had Loyalsock on their schedule, and nearly met them in the District IV final.

Barrett hopes that changes next season.

“I hope to get an opportunity to play against some of the other tops guys next year.”
