NTL GIRLS' TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING EDGES PREVIOUSLY UNDEFEATED TROY (2021-04-30)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — The Wyalusing girls snuck out an 8-point win over Troy, 79-71, in NTL track and field action Friday.
This is the Trojans’ first loss of the season.
The Rams had the edge in several events, eking out Troy in the sprints (14-13), distance (15-12), relays (10-5), throws (15-12), and jumps (23-13).
The Trojans out performed them in the hurdles (16-2).
Wyalusing went 1-2 in the pole vault with Marie Scarborough (7-feet) and Hayley Anaya (6-feet, 6-inches), with Troy’s Olivia Call (6-feet, 6-inches) third.
Wyalusing’s Olivia Haley (13.2) won the 100, followed by Troy’s Anneliese Getola (13.4) and Grace Sherman (13.6).
Troy went 1-2 in the 100 hurdles with Getola (17.5) and Elizabeth Geer (19.4), while Wyalusing’s Ruth Weaver (22.8) third.
Trojan Hope Houseknecht (69-feet, 2-inches) won the discus, with Wyalusing’s Marissa Johnson (62-feet, 9-inches) second, and Trojan Morgan Harkness (60-feet, 11-inches) third.
Ram Catherine Brown (2:46) won the 800, with Troy’s Julia Colton (2:58) and Natalie Williams (3:19) second and third.
Ely (5-feet) won the high jump, with teammate Priscilla Newton (4-feet, 4-inches) second, while Call (4-feet, 4-inches) came in third.
Wyalusing’s 4x400 relay of Kacey Kerin, Brown, Layla Botts, and Haley edged out Troy for the win by less than three seconds, 4:44.5 to 4:47.3.
Houseknecht (26-feet, 6 1/2-inches) won the shot put with Johnson (24-feet, 9 1/2-inches) second, and Harkness (24-feet) third.
Troy’s Sydney Taylor (56.7) and Geer (57.7) went 1-2 in the 300 hurdles, as Weaver (1:04) was third.
The Lady Rams 4x800 relay of Kerin, Sierra Allen, Brown, and Kayla Beebe won in 11:33.
Allen (6:13) won the 1600, followed by Taylor (6:27), and Troy’s Lilly DePew (6:53).
Wyalusing’s Emilee Otis (26-feet, 10-inches) won the triple jump, as Geer (26-feet, 8-inches) was second, and Newton (26-feet, 7-inches) came in third.
The Trojan 4x100 relay won in 54.5, holding off Wyalusing by .4 seconds.
The Rams swept the javelin with Johnson (72-feet, 5-inches), Otis (67-feet, 9-inches), and Brooklyn Milne (62-feet).
Troy’s Bailey Johnson (1:13) won the 400, followed by Wyalusing’s Kassandra Kerin (1:14), and Trojan Molly Davison (1:15).
Haley (27.5) won the 200, with Getola (28.1) second, and Troy’s Grace Sherman (28.8) third.
Beebe (13:50) won the 3200, with Taylor (14:21) and DePew (15:11) second and third.
Call (13-feet, 11-inches) won the long jump, as Newton (13-feet, 1 1/2-inches), and Sherman (13-feet, 1-inch) were second, and third.
