NTL JUNIOR HIGH BASEBALL: TOWANDA TOPS ATHENS IN WALK-OFF (2021-05-01)

WYSOX — Towanda picked up their first junior high baseball win, rallying in the final inning to beat Athens 6-4 Saturday.

The Knights led 4-0 after four innings, but a 4-run sixth by the Wildcats tied things up. Going into the bottom half of the inning Towanda loaded the bases, but Athens was able to get a double play without allowing a run.

That’s when Towanda’s Riley Sluyter (2-for-3) hit a walk-off 2-run single to beat the Wildcats.

Jack Wheaton (2-for-3) had a triple, with a run scored for Towanda, as Dawson Butts (2-for-2) scored a run.

Jack Tavani (1-for-3) and Gianni Assante Dicapillo (1-for-2) both scored a run, as Riley Vanderpool (1-for-3), and Nathan Bartholomew (1-for-1) also had hits.
