Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — Thailey Franklin tossed a 10 strikeout shutout, as NEB shook off a slow start to beat Williamson 10-0 in six innings during NTL softball action Monday.

Franklin allowed just three hits, and one walk, while at the plate 9-hole hitter Melanie Shumway was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day, scoring a run.

Emily Susanj (2-for-4), Cianna Frisbie (2-for-3), and Julianna Susanj (2-for-3) also had multi-hit days. Frisbie scored three times, with 2-RBI, as Susanj scored twice with two runs knocked in.

Kayleigh Thoman (1-for-4) brought in a run, as Maisie Neuber scored twice as she reached three times - twice with a walk, and once on a hit by pitch.

Mikayla Post walked twice, scored a run, and had 3-RBI, as Julia Brown and Maline Ramires both also scored.

The Panthers led just 2-0 after three innings, before scoring eight in the final three.

In the second inning Frisbie led off with a single, followed by a Brown walk, and Julianna Susanj bunt single to load the bases.

Frisbie would score on a Post ground out, followed by Brown scoring on a wild pitch.

Williamson, though, was able to catch Julianna Susanj at home, then got a strikeout to end the threat.

Then, in the bottom of the fourth, Susanj reached on a 1-out error, then scored on another Post ground out. Back to back singles by Shumway, and Thoman, followed by a Franklin walk, loaded the bases.

Shumway would score on a wild pitch, but Thoman was caught trying to steal home to end the threat.

The bottom of the fifth was NEB’s big inning, as Emily Susanj led off with a single. Neuber then walked, followed by Frisbie hitting a 2-run single that scored Ramires, running for Emily Susanj, and Neuber.

After an out Frisbie scored on a Julianna Susanj single. Post would then walk, followed by Shumway getting her third hit of the game to load the bases.

After an out, Julianna Susanj scored on a steal of home to make it 8-0.

Then in the sixth, Neuber drew a 1-out walk, followed by back to back errors loading the bases.

That allowed back to back walks to Julianna Susanj, and Post, to score Neuber, and Frisbie, and end the game.

The Panthers will travel to CV Thursday, for a big NTL Division-II showdown.
