NTL BASEBALL: WYALUSING COMES UP SHORT AGAINST MOUNTIES IN PLAYOFFS (2021-05-24)

Northern Tier Sports Report
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Wyalusing’s season came to an end during District IV, Class AA baseball quarterfinal action Monday, as they fell to South Williamsport 6-1.

Mountie ace Landon Lorson struck out 10 as he went 5 2/3-innings to get the win. He walked five, but allowed just one hit, and an unearned run.

Wyalusing ace Blake Morningstar went all six innings, striking out seven, with five hits, four walks, and six earned runs.

Trehnon Hugo (1-for-2) had the lone Wyalusing hit, as Jacob Bruyn scored their run.

They did have their chances, stranding five runners throughout the game, while South made good on their chances, with just two left on base.

South started off strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. A Ryan Rischoff RBI single made it 1-0, followed by South scoring another run on a pass ball.

The Mounties ran the score to 3-0 after a third inning run.

Wyalusing got on the scoreboard in the fourth, as Bruyn drew a walk. He would later score on a 2-out error to cut it to 3-1.

However, South answered in the bottom of the fifth with three runs of their own. Rischoff and Lorson had back-to-back RBI singles, followed by a 2-out, steal of home to make it 6-1.

That was more than enough for the Mounties to get the win, and a berth into the District IV semifinals.

Wyalusing may end the season 9-10, but they put Ram baseball back on the NTL, and District IV, map, after several season in purgatory. As they return much of their line-up, and ace Morningstar, it should only be up from here.
