ON TAOP TODAY: SOFTBALL SEMIFINAL GAMES READY TO GO (2021-05-01)

Northern Tier Sports Report
OK, District IV softball semi-finals take three. It will be a busy afternoon at Elm Park as the district tries to get everybody back on track.

SOFTBALL

NEB (14-0) at Canton (13-8), at Elm Park, 2 p.m.: They’ve been switched to the earlier game, with the winner going to the title game, and getting a state playoff berth. The Warriors are coming off a big win over CV, who swept them during the regular season. NEB swept them, too, along with everybody else they played. Both of their contests were tight early, only for the Panthers to get a big inning to pull away.

Wyalusing (11-8) vs East Juniata (11-8), at Elm Park, 3:30 p.m.: About as far apart as you can in District IV. The Rams used an 8-game win streak in the second half of the season to rise into the second seed, while EJ had a 6-1 stretch in the middle of their season. Both teams come into the playoffs on a down note, though, as the Rams went 0-2 in the final two games, while EJ was 2-3 in their last five, including back to back losses to Line Mountain. Neither team has played in over a week, either.
