NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: TROY GIRLS TOP ATHENS (2020-09-22)
Northern Tier Sports ReportEAST TROY - The Lady Trojans defended their NTL Division-I cross-country crown Tuesday with a 21-40 win over Athens.
Troy took five of the top seven spots to beat Athens 21-40.
Lilly DePew led the way for Troy with a win in 21:51 while Athens’ Emma Bronson (22:03) was second. Troy’s Julia Colton (22:51) and Sydney Taylor (23:30) were third and fourth with Athens’ Thea Bentley (25:18) coming in fifth.
Four Trojans followed: McKenzi Bellinger (25:40), Rachel Kingsley (25:42), Halie Buck (25:42) and Jodie Weidner (26:57).
In the boys’ race Athens went 1-2-3 to nab the win 21-38.
Troy’s Owen Williams (19:10) took fourth to lead the Trojans as Seth Seymour (19:10) and Lance Heasley (19:45) followed.
Jacob Wales (21:38) was 12th and Brandon Schrader (22:46) came in 15th to round out their top five.
Athens’ top three were Connor Dahl (17:53), Matt Gorsline (18:10) and Kyle Anthony (18:38).
In junior high action the Troy girls won 22-35 led by Alyssa Parks’ win in 9:43 while the boys' fell 26-31 as Troy's Hart Houseknecht won in 9:22.
