AAU SOFTBALL: PRIDE GO 3-0 TO EARN TOP SEED AT EYOTA CLASSIC (2021-07-10)

APALACHIN, N.Y. — The BC Pride rolled to the top seed in the Gold Bracket at the Eyota Classic on Saturday, as they went 3-0 in on the day.

They defeated the Lady Lions 10-4, the Rumble 6-1, and the Blast 14-4.


It was a slow start for the Pride, as the Lady Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the mid-point of the third inning.


A 5-run bottom third for the Pride turned things around. Then, in the fourth three different Pride players hit home runs, with Brea Overpeck’s clearing a row cars beyond the fence in the outfield, which started the team's power trip.


Overpeck went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Allie Liddick went 2-for-2 with a home run, and a run scored.


Allyson Butcher was 1-for-1 with a home run, and two runs scored, while Kayleigh Thoman, Thailey Franklin, Keri Wesneski, and Julia Brown each had a hit. Brown scored twice, with Thoman, and Franklin also crossing home.


MacKenna Lightner scored a run, as Rylin Graham drew two walks.


Franklin struck out seven, and allowed just one hit agains the Lady Lions, as three of the four runs against her were unearned.


The Pride started quicker against the Rumble, as they scored a run in the first, then two more in the second to go up 3-0.


After a scoreless third, they tacked on three more in the fourth to lead 6-0. The Rumble got a run across in the bottom half of the inning, but nothing after that.


Thoman had the big bat for the Pride, going 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, and three runs scored, while Graham was 2-for-3 with two runs. 


Overpeck notched a double, as Butcher walked twice, Lightner scored, and Franklin drove in a run.


Franklin was strong again in the circle, striking out eight with one hit, and no earned runs.


It was a hit fest for the Pride in the final game as all nine girls pounded out 13 hits.


Wesneski went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead lead things, while Franklin and Thoman both went 2-for-3. Franklin scored three times, with 2-RBI, while Thoman also crossed home three times.


Butcher had a double with a run scored, while Overpeck, Liddick, Brown, Graham, and Lightner each had a hit. Graham scored twice, with Overpeck, Liddick, Brown, and Lightner all scoring once.


Wesneski took to the circle to get the win, striking out three while allowing five hits.


The Pride will face fourth seed, CNY Monsters, who went 2-1 on the day, at 8 a.m. in the semifinals back at Muth Park Sunday.


If they win they get the winner of Titans/Fury at 10 a.m. for the Gold Bracket title.
