TOWANDA'S BENNETT HEADLINES BRADFORD COUNTY T&F GIRLS' ALL-STARS (2021-07-25)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was definitely a different year for NTL track and field. With no invites, extra dual meets, and team champions decided by the meets, it was a year to behold.

One thing did say constant, and that was the success of girls’ athletes in the league.

At the top was Towanda’s Porschia Bennett, who claimed a state title in the high jump, while also being solid in the sprints, and long jump. That makes her the Bradford County All-Stars Girls’ Track and Field Overall Athlete of the Year.

Athens’ Emma Bronson was a constant in the distance events, being the top runner in the 800 and 1600, and top two in the 3200. That makes her the Track Athlete of the Year.

Troy’s Olivia Call was one of the top pole vaulters this year, and was also a good pointer getter in the long jump. That makes her the Field Athlete of the Year.

Athens’ Mya Thompson burst on to the season as the top triple jumper, and medaled in the tough Class AAA district field. That makes her the Newcomer of the Year.

The Athens’ coaching staff, led by Scott Riley, went unbeaten on the season, their only blemish a tie with Towanda. That makes them the Coaching Staff of the year.

The first team consists of Towanda’s Porschia Bennett, and Olivia Sparbanie, Athens’ Emma Roe, Emma Bronson, Hannah Walker, Mya Thompson, and Emma Persnaselli, Troy’s Anneliese Getola, and Olivia Call, Wyalusing’s Olivia Haley, Sayre’s Carrie Claypool, NEB’s Paige Howell, and Canton’s Reagan Kelley.

The second team is made up of Troy’s Grace Sherman, Elizabeth Geer, and Hope Houseknecht, Wyalusing’s Mia Wilcox, Catherine Brown, Carina Beebe, Hannah Ely, and Marie Scarborough, Towanda’s Eliza Fowler, McKenna Schafer, Hannah Ryck, and Erin Barrett, Canton’s Camille McRoberts, and Athens’ Emily Henderson, Olivia Bartlow, and Cassy Friend.
