WYALUSING'S CAMERON BOYS T&F OVERALL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR (2021-07-26)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The boys’ track and field season was much like the girls, as they were forced to make several adjustments from last season to get the year in. Despite all the obstacles, many NTL athletes were able to have success this past season.

Leading the way is Wyalusing’s Kashawn Cameron. The Ram set two new school records - 100 meters and long jump - while also winning a district title in the long jump, along with taking home a state medal. That makes Cameron the Bradford County boys’ Track and Field All-star team Overall Athlete of the Year.

Troy’s Dustin Hagin also had a strong season, taking second in the district in the 110 hurdles, along with bringing home a state medal in the event. That makes him the Track Athlete of the Year.

Asher Ellis continued Athens’ strong tradition of throwing, sweeping the throws in the NTL meet, along with making states in the javelin, and discus. That makes Ellis the Field Athlete of the Year.

It may have been Grady Cobb’s first year of jumping, but he had it down by the district meet, tying for second, and earning a state berth. That propelled the Ram to the Newcomer of the Year award.

The Athens coaching staff was able to have the boys’ team sweep the league, behind the rare combination of a strong thrower, and a deep distance crew. That makes the Wildcats the Coaching Staff of the year.

The first team consists of Wyalusing’s Kashawn Cameron, Justin Hiduk, and Grady Cobb, Athens’ Kyle Anthony, Connor Dahl, and Asher Ellis, Towanda’s Logan Lambert, Nick Place, and Mitchell Mosier, Troy’s Ridge Spencer, and Dustin Hagin, and Sayre’s Bobby Benjamin.

On the second team are Athens’ Jaden Wright, Ryan Lasusa, Justin Lynch, and Matt Gorsline, Troy’s Owen Williams, and Seth Seymour, Canton’s Caiden Williams, and Derek Atherton-Ely, Towanda’s Ryan West, Wyalusing’s Nolan Oswald, Sayre’s Tavone McClenny, and NEB’s Dan Seeley.
