Northern Tier Sports ReportA very busy day with local teams off all variety hitting the competition field today as there are 11 contests on the docket.
GOLF
NTL at River Valley, 2 p.m.: It will be CV’s turn to host as the league descends on River Valley. Wyalusing is sitting fourth in the standings, while Towanda is in fifth.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
NP-Liberty (1-2) at Towanda (3-4), 4 p.m.: The Black Knights will look to get back to .500 if they can get a win over the Mounties today. They were able to beat them the first match on the road.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Towanda (0-4) at Williamson (0-1), 4 p.m.: The Knights will look to pick up their first win of the season as they return to league play. The two teams split a season ago, both of them winning on the road.
Wellsboro (2-1-1) at NEB (2-1), 4 p.m.: The Panthers’ first home match is a big one as they get their shot at the defending league champions. NEB is riding a 2-game win streak after close wins over Troy and Williamson.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Muncy (2-0) at Troy (3-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans will look to rebound from a tough loss at Athens Monday as they gear up for a good non-league opponent. The Indians are currently second in the District IV, Class A standings.
CROSS-COUNTRY
CV, Troy at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams will play hosts as they open the season. Wyalusing and Troy were the top two girls’ teams a year ago as they defend their division titles.
NP-Mansfield, Towanda at Canton, 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors will host a tri-meet as all three teams open the dual meet season. Both Canton and Towanda are looking to have winning records in 2021.
VOLLEYBALL
Canton (1-0) at Athens (0-1), 7:15 p.m.: The Warriors will be looking to stay unbeaten as they take on a tough Wildcat squad. Canton opened the regular season with a win over Towanda, while Athens fell at NEB.
CV (0-2) at NEB (2-0), 7:15 p.m.: The Panthers will look to stay undefeated as they start Small School Division play against the Indians.
Troy (1-1) at NP-Liberty (2-0), 7:15 p.m.: The Trojans will get their shot at the defending league and district champions tonight. They’re coming off a home win over Sayre last week.
Wyalusing (2-1) at Towanda (0-1), 7:15 p.m.: Both teams have high aspirations this season. The Rams are coming off a win over South Williamsport, while Towanda took third at the Tunkhannock Tournament over the weekend.
