NTL VOLLEYBALL: NEB OUTLASTS ATHENS TO STAY UNBEATEN (23 PHOTOS) (2020-09-28)

ATHENS - NEB kept their perfect season going as they out lasted Athens 3-2 in NTL volleyball action Monday.

The homestanding Wildcats took the first set 25-16 but NEB rallied for the next two 25-21 and 25-19.


Athens won the fourth 25-18 to send it to a fifth set.


In the deciding set, it was NEB 15-13 for the win.


Lauryn Schultz had 11 points, one ace, four kills and 17 digs for the Panthers while Kiara Thetga added 10 points.


Julianna Susanj notched seven points and 17 assists, Emily Susanj had 19 kills, five solo blocks and 14 digs, Kylie Lewis finished with 10 assists and 14 digs and Chloe Baker added six points, eight kills and 18 digs.


For Athens Kylee Jayne had 17 kills with Leah Liechty nabbing 14 and Jenny Ryan having 11. Kayleigh Miller had 31 assists and nine digs as Taylor Fields finished with 24 digs.


The improves NEB to 5-0 on the year.


In the JV match NEB won 25-18 and 25-15.


Kami Edsell had 11 points for the Panthers with Lauren Lewis adding seven points, four aces, four kills and two solo blocks. Thailey Franklin, Emma Neuber and Gabby Susanj had three points each.


The JV Panthers are now 4-1 on the year.


NEB’s next contest is Saturday, home, with a 1:30 p.m. start with Wyalusing.
