NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: TOWANDA GIRLS EARN LEAGUE MEET SWEEP (2020-09-29)

WESTFIELD — Towanda girls’ cross-country got their fifth in before CV’s fifth to pick up two wins in NTL action Tuesday.

The Lady Knights edged CV 27-28 and also beat NEB 23-36 as CV won over NEB 22-33.

It was Towanda’s Eliza Fowler (22:57) winning the race while CV took the next two spots with McKenna Cary (23:29) and Ali Beiser (24:36). NEB’s Starla Miller (24:55) was fourth while Towanda’s Taylor Brennan (24:58) rounded out the top five.


Fellow Knight Madison Nonnemacher (25:00) edged out CV’s Chloe Spencer (25:09) for sixth, which would prove the difference in the meet. 


NEB’s Lilly Kapr (25:31) was eighth with teammate Lauryn Jones (25:44) ninth. CV’s Teagan Jones (25:56) rounded out the top 10.


Rounding out Towanda’s top five was McKenna Schaeffer (26:59) and Jillian Packard (27:08) in 11th and 12th while CV’s final scorer, Ryan Slusser (29:21), took 13th.


NEB’s two final scorers were Megan Dewing (29:46) in 16th and Meg Russell (30:48) in 17th.


CV swept the boys’ meet, beating Towanda 21-36 and NEB 21-34. NEB edged Towanda 27-28 for the other win.


CV took three of the top four spots with Seth Neal (17:47) and Owen Cummings (17:48) going 1-2. NEB’s Norman Strauss IV (18:29) took third while CV’s Nathaniel Welch (18:43) came in fourth.


Towanda’s Jaden Wise (19:22) and Luke Tavani (19:25) were fifth and sixth as CV’s Arch Ackley (19:29) came in seventh. 


NEB took the next two spots with Richard Palmer (19:55) and Joey Bevacqua (20:05) while Towanda’s Eric McGee (21:15) rounded out the top 10.


NEB’s final two scorers were Aiden Kapr (21:16) in 11th and Hayden Mosier (24:50) in 17th. Towanda’s final two scorers were Nate Spencer (21:19) in 12th and Rein Aldefer (22:20) in 14th.


In week four meets NEB will be at Sayre while Towanda travels to Wellsboro. They all start at 4:30 p.m.
