NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: TOWANDA SEES 5 DIFFERENT KNIGHTS SCORE IN 8-1 WIN OVER SAYRE (2020-09-29)

SAYRE - In an 8-on-8 contest Towanda doubled up Sayre’s possession to pick up an 8-1 girls’ NTL soccer win Tuesday.

The Lady Knights possessed the ball 54 minutes to Sayre 26 and out shot them 30-2 with a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

They played 8-on-8 as Sayre only had nine active players on the roster.


Kathryn Dunn, Molly Larcom and Mirra Neilson all had two goals a piece with Mya Savercook and Livy Sparbanie also netting goals.


Kendra Merrill had the Sayre goal.


Erin Barrett made one save for the Lady Knights as Adrianna Barnhart had 22 saves for Sayre.


Savercool scored first for the Knights 26 minutes into the contest. A little over six minutes later Neilson notched her first goal.


With under a minute to play in the half Dunn made it a 3-0 lead at the break.


Dunn scored her second goal 6:27 into the second half to make it 4-0 Towanda.


Exactly five minutes later Neilson nabbed her second goal for a 5-0 lead.


Merrill then scored for Sayre at the 27:21 mark of the second half to cut it to 5-1.


Towanda then got three goals in quick succession.


Larcom scored her first at 28:59, followed by Sparbanie less than a minute later.


Larcom’s second goal, and Towanda’s last, came with less than five minutes to play.


The Knights are back up in the valley on Thursday as they face Athens with a 5:30 p.m. start.
