NTL VOLLEYBALL: WYALUSING HAS THREE EARN MILESTONES IN BACK TO BACK WINS (2021-10-23)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Wyalusing volleyball recently celebrated a trio of new milestones as Emilee Otis (500 assists), Sage Superko (250 kills) and Priscilla Newton (750 digs) all tallied career markers over the course of a pair of matches to end the week.

Superko and Newton got their marks in a win over Sayre on Thursday, while Otis hit hers in a 3-1 victory over Williamsport on Saturday.

“I am very excited to have been able to achieve this milestone,” Superko said. “Hard work, dedication, the support of my teammates, and the enticement of Coach Newton’s squish mellows made this career goal possible. With only a few games left in my senior season I have enjoyed playing with such wonderful teammates and coaches. This would not have been possible without them.”

Newton had hit 500 digs at the start of the season, so she’s been busy on the backline to get over 250 digs so far this year.

“I’m just trying to stay consistent for my team, especially in these big games,” she said. “I know my digging is key for us to run our offense.”

And Otis need just six assists to get to 500 in their final home match of the season Saturday afternoon, and she blew past that with 22 against the Millionaires.

“It was an amazing feeling, and I couldn’t have reached this goal without my teammates,” said Otis. “I love setting, and I am so grateful to have reached this milestone.”

Williamsport took the first set 25-13, but the Rams won the next three 25-21, 25-15 and 25-15.

Newton had four aces, one assist and 27 digs, as Otis finished with two aces, three kills, one block, and eight digs.

Olivia Tewksbury finished with two aces, two assists, and eight digs, while London Edwards had an ace, two kills, and 11 digs.

Karissa Brown had an ace, six kills, and one dig, while Superko notched a team high seven kills, and two blocks.

Anna Kipp had six kills, one block, and seven digs, as Emily Girven had three kills, and three blocks. Olivia Leichliter notched two kills, while Reanne Rodriguez finished with a kill, and 14 digs.

Sarah Watkins chipped in with a kill, an assist, and two digs.

The Millionaires eked out a 2-1 win in the JV match, taking the first set 25-21. Wyalusing won the second set 25-23, but Williamsport took the third 16-14.

Rachel Wilson had five kills, and three blocks for the Rams, while Anna Briggs finished with two aces, and two digs.

Halle Nolan had two kills, Clare Allen added two aces, and Lexi Jayne notched an ace with a kill.

Wyalusing ends the regular season with a trip to NP-Liberty on Wednesday before beginning the District IV playoffs next Saturday.
