ATHENS - It came down to bonus points, with Athens getting a few more than Wyalusing, as the Wildcats won 32-30 in NTL wrestling action Friday.

Both teams won six matches each, but Rams were held to two decision wins compared to Athens’ one. The Wildcats had a technical fall to go with four pins, while the Rams had three falls and a forfeit.

The match of the night was 106, as Athens’ Keaton Sinsabaugh edged out Wyalusing’s Evan Johnson 8-6, which proved to be the deciding factor.

Athens opened with back to back falls from Kaden Setzer (132) and Jacob Courtney (138) to go up 12-0.

The Rams rallied, with Skyler Manahan (145) scoring a fall, while Hunter Manahan (152) earned a 7-2 decision, cutting it to 12-9.

A Karter Rude (160) pin pushed Athens to an 18-9 lead, but Wyalusing would go on top after winning the next three weights.

Alex Hunsinger (172) earned a 5-1 decision, Brian Arnold (189) scored a first period falls, and Nick Woodruff (215) got a forfeit, giving the Rams a 24-18 advantage.

A Joshua Nittinger (285) fall tied things back up, followed by Sinsabaugh’s win at 106, giving Athens a 27-18 lead.

There was a double forfeit at 113, followed by Wildcat Gavin Bradley scoring a 23-8 technical fall in 5:18 to secure the win.

Ayden Hunsinger (126) finished out the day with a fall for the Rams.

Wyalusing will have to rebound quickly, as they host Towanda Saturday, with a 7 p.m. start time.
