NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: NEB FALLS TO WELLSBORO ON THE ROAD (2022-01-25)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WELLSBORO — Northeast Bradford couldn’t find a way to slow down Wellsboro in their 63-37 loss during NTL boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Panthers found themselves down 18-7 after the opening quarter, and the Hornet lead just ballooned from there.

Dan Seeley led NEB with 12 points, as Shakei Smith finished with seven. Joe Stanton had six, Cayden McPherson netted five, Andrew Beers notched four, and Sam Abell rounded things out with three points.

Four different Wellsboro players hit double figures, led by Peyton McClure’s 15 points off five 3-pointers. Darryn Callahan had 12, with Conner Adams and Liam Manning scoring 11 points a piece.

Hayes Campbell finished with eight points, Cameron Brought added five, while Drew Manning scored one.

Smith had five of NEB’s seven first quarter points, but six different Wellsboro players - led by McClure’s two 3-balls - helped them take a nine point lead at the first horn.

In the second quarter the Panthers did better, netting 11 points - led by Seeley’s eight - but Wellsboro continued to score, aided by the free throw line, where they were 6-for-10, to take a 35-18 lead at the half.

The two teams played even in the third, 11-11, as Beers led NEB with four points, making 46-29 going into the final eight minutes.

In the fourth the Hornets held NEB to just eight points as they secured the win.

NEB is next in action on Saturday at home against Northumberland Christian.
