COLLEGE: WYALUSING GRAD EDSELL GOES 1-2 AT BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR PENN STATE (2022-03-06)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLINCOLN — Penn State’s Creighton Edsell, a Wyalusing graduate, went 1-2 at the Big Ten Championships over the weekend.
Edsell, wrestling at 165 pounds, opened the tournament with a 3-1 sudden victory win over Purdue’s Hayden Lohrey in the first round.
However, in the quarterfinals he lost to Iowa’s Alex Marinelli, the second seed, 8-2.
Then in the consolations he fell 3-2 to Minnesota’s Cael Carlson, to finish the tournament 1-2.
Edsell is still eligible for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, March 17-19, and will find out on Tuesday.
Michigan ended up edging Penn State, 143-141.5, for the team title.
