ON TAP TODAY: ONLY A FEW GAMES, BUT ALL HAVE PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS (2022-05-11)

Northern Tier Sports Report
A few more baseball and softball games today as teams begin wrapping up their seasons.

BASEBALL

CV (7-9) at Troy (6-8), 4:30 p.m.: A big game for both teams in terms of playoff positioning. The situation for Troy is very dynamic, as they’re currently the seventh seed, and have three teams below them that are .500 or better. If they can hold that, they’ll make districts, regardless of if they can get to .500, but with six games left, they have a good shot of evening up their record. CV needs to win out to get above .500, or stay in second place in the district standings. They’re currently there, with Millville (7-8) nipping at their heels.

Canton (10-8) at Towanda (2-15), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors are assured a playoff spot, and still have a chance to catch Southern Columbia for fifth if they win out.

SOFTBALL

Canton (13-4) at Towanda (4-10), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors continue to try and claw their way up the district standings. They’re still in fifth, but keep inching closer to CV and Bucktail to nab that fourth spot.
