THE WEEK AHEAD: DISTRICT TRACK, WITH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL WINDING DOWN (2022-05-15)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The baseball and softball regular seasons wrap up this week, with the first day of baseball playoffs slated for Saturday. Track and Field will hold their District IV Championships Thursday and Saturday, with the District IV boys’ tennis doubles on Wednesday.

TRACK & FIELD

Thursday, May 19 & Saturday, May 21

District IV Championships at Williamsport: Prelims on the track, along with the 4x800 relay finals, while there will be field finals on both days.


BOYS’ TENNIS

Wednesday, May 18

District IV Doubles at Williamsport: This was moved from Saturday, and will feature some of the best duos in the district.


BASEBALL

Monday, May 16

Towanda (2-16) at CV (8-9), 4:30 p.m.: The Indians are looking to secure a playoff berth, as they’re currently second in the Class A, District IV standings. The Knights will be looking to build some momentum for next season.


Troy (6-11) at Sayre (17-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans have three games left, and will be looking to finish out the season strong, while Sayre is trying to catch Wyalusing for the top spot in the district standings.


Tuesday, May 17

Troy (6-11) at Sullivan County (4-10), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans will head down south to face the Griffins, a team they scrimmaged earlier in the year.


Wednesday, May 18

Troy (6-11) at Towanda (2-16), 4:30 p.m.: Troy won the first match-up over a month ago, while both teams have young rosters as they build for next season.


SOFTBALL

Monday, May 16

Troy (5-10) at St. John Neumann (6-10), 3:30 p.m.: A double-header as the Trojans will look to finish the season strong in their last three games this week.


Canton (15-4) at Millville (8-8), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors are coming off a win over defending district champs Montgomery, but are still looking to be on the road in the first round. The Quakers are fighting for their playoff lives, so should be a good one. Canton won the first match-up.


Tuesday, May 17

Towanda (5-13) at Blue Ridge, 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Knights have two games left, and will look to get win in their final road game of the year.


Troy (5-10) at Sayre (0-16), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans will look to pick up a win at Sayre, who just dropped back to back 1-loss games to Sullivan County.


Wednesday, May 18

Sayre (0-16) at Towanda (5-13), 4:30 p.m.: The Knights will look to close out the season with a win as they host the winless Redskins. Sayre did just drop to 1-run games to Sullivan County.
