NTL BASEBALL: ROUGH THIRD INNING HURTS TROY IN LOSS TO SAYRE (2022-05-17)

SAYRE — Troy fell to Sayre 12-1 in five innings during NTL baseball action Tuesday.

It was just 2-0 through the first two innings, but the Redskins posted a 9-run third inning to pull away. They added another in the fourth, while Troy got their run in the top of the fifth.

Shane Austin (2-for-2) was perfect from the plate for Troy, hitting a triple and scoring their only run. Camden Allen (1-for-2) also had a hit, while Lincoln Chimics walked twice.

Kory Schucker took the loss, striking out two with seven walks, four hits, and eight runs. Zack Woolf went a third of an inning, allowing three walks, two hits, and three runs.

Malachi Walters pitched an inning and a third, striking out one with three walks, two hits, and two runs. Austin tossed the final third, with one strikeout.

The Trojan run came as Austin led off with a hit to deep right-center field. Sayre tried to get him at third, but the ball went over the third baseman’s head and out of bounds, allowing Austin to score.

Troy will wrap up their season as they travel to Towanda on Wednesday.
