NTL SOFTBALL: TROY USES TWO BIG INNINGS TO TOP SAYRE (2022-05-17)

SAYRE — Troy used big innings in the first and third to pull out a 21-0 win in three innings over Sayre during NTL softball action Tuesday.

The Trojans scored nine runs in the first, and 12 more in the third, as they pounded out 14 hits.


Olivia Tate (3-for-4) was a home run short of the cycle, with a double, a triple, three runs scored, and a diving catch in the outfield.


Lauren Ridall (2-for-2), Emily Champluvier (2-for-2), and Rachel Kingsley (2-for-2) were all perfect from the plate. Ridall and Champluvier scored twice, with Kingsley crossing home once.


Kali Ayres (2-for-3) had a triple with two runs scored, as Madi Palmer (1-for-2), Tyra Williams (1-for-1), Amber James (1-for-2), Lydia Lewis (1-for-2), Abby Wrisley (1-for-3), and Caitlyn Knapp (1-for-3) also had hits. Wrisley and Williams both scored twice, as Palmer, James, and Knapp all scored. Tailyn Stahle chipped in with two runs scored, as well.


Ayres scored the win, striking out two with one hit, no walks, and two hit batsmen.


In the first inning Palmer and Ridall led things off with back to back hits, with both eventually scoring.


Ayres would draw a walk, followed by back to back doubles from Tate and James - all three would eventually cross home.


Lewis would reach on an error, followed by Stahle drawing a walk. Wrisley then reached on an error, allowing Lewis to score. Stahle and Wrisley would later score, as well.


After back to back outs Ridall singled, then scored on an Ayres double for the final run of the inning.


In the third Troy led off the inning with seven straight hits - Knapp, Williams, Champluvier, Ayre, Tate, James and Lewis - with all eventually crossing home.


Stahle would draw a walk, followed by Wrisley getting a hit as both eventually scored.


After an out Williams drew a walk, followed by Champluvier getting another hit, as both would score. After a second out Tate tripled, and scored off a Kingsley hit.
