LITTLE LEAGUE: TROY RALLIES LATE TO EDGE NEBALL (2022-06-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWINDHAM — It was a pitcher’s dual between Troy and NEBall during Minor’s all-star softball semifinal action Sunday. The two hurlers combined for 25 strikeouts, with Troy scoring two sixth inning runs to pull out a 3-1 win.
Troy pitcher Blakelee Brown struck out 13 to get the win, while NEBall pitcher Kinley Thoman fanned 12 in the loss.
Ally Allen had a double with an RBI for Troy, while Violet Kneller had a hit and scored twice. Grace Pepper had a hit with an RBI and a run scored, while Lily Weaver also had a hit.
Emilie Maynard had a home run for NEBall, while Thoman went 1-for-2.
Maynard put NEBall up with a lead-off home run in the second inning. That stuck until the fifth when Kneller led off with a hit for Troy, and later scored.
In the sixth Troy’s Nora Harris was hit by a pitch, with Kneller coming in to run for her. Kneller would then score the go ahead run off Pepper’s hit. Pepper would later score on Allen’s 2-out double to make it 3-1.
Troy will face Susquehanna County, who beat Canton 14-8, on Thursday, June 30 at a place to be determined. NEBall falls into the consolation bracket, and takes on RTL on Tuesday at a place to be determined.
