LITTLE LEAGUE: CANTON DROPS GAME TO WELLSBORO (2022-06-29)

LEROY — Canton minors all-star baseball dropped a semifinal game to Wellsboro, 18-8 in four innings, during bracket play on Wednesday.

Canton led 6-4 after the first inning, but Wellsboro used a 5-2 edge in the second to take a 9-8 lead. They went on to out score them 9-0 over the final two innings to get the win.

Colby Colton went 1-for-2 with a double and 2-RBI for Canton, while Levi Fitzwater was 1-f0r-2 with a run scored, and an RBI, and Tate Cole went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Jeremy Blaney and Gauge Rockwell both scored twice, while Marshall Preston, Drake VanNoy, and Oliver Sechrist each scored runs. Preston and VanNoy had an RBI apiece, as well.

Cole started, and went 1 2/3-innings to strikeout two. VanNoy pitched the next inning, striking out three. Preston then saw the mound, but didn’t get an out. Parker Earle went the final inning, striking out one.

Canton will take on the winner of Southern Tioga and Allegheny Mountain in the consolation bracket on Friday with a 6 p.m. start.
