LITTLE LEAGUE: ONE BAD INNING DOOMS CANTON AGAINST SOUTHERN TIOGA (2022-07-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLEROY — Despite a fast start, Canton fell to Southern Tioga, 11-4, during minors baseball all-star bracket play Friday.
The loss knocks Canton out of the tournament.
Canton led 4-0 after the second inning, with Southern Tioga chipping it down to 4-2 after back to back one run innings in the third and fourth. Then came an 8-run fifth in favor of Southern Tioga, putting them up 10-4. They added another run in the sixth to get the win.
Marshall Preston had the hot bat, going 3-for-3 with a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored, while Gauge Rockwell was 1-for-2 with a triple, and a run scored.
Will Schoonover went 1-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI, while Levi Fitzwater also scored a run.
Drake VanNoy went the first four innings, striking out nine, while Preston pitched two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. Parker Earle tossed the final 1 1/3-innings, with two strikeouts.
