LITTLE LEAGUE: TROY USES BIG 5TH INNING TO TOP NEBALL (2022-07-06)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWINDHAM — Troy broke open a close game with a 7-run fifth inning as they defeated NEBall to stay alive in District 15 minors all-star softball action Wednesday.
It was Gracie Pepper’s home run that broke open their big fifth inning. Troy used a run in the first, and two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
Then came their 7-run fifth to go up 10-0. NEBall would add run in the bottom half to keep the game going, then scored another in the sixth for the 10-2 final.
Blakelee Brown struck out 17 for Troy, while going 4-for-4 with two run scored.
Lily Weaver had a hit with two runs scored, while Ally Allen had a hit with a run scored. Violet Kneller also had a hit, while Mya Monro, Madison Morgan, Annika White, and Jordyn Sheeley all scored.
Zoey Thetga had a hit with a run scored for NEBall, while Lizzy Stanton, Emilie Maynard, Khloe Winters, Onaleigh Gardner, and Brooke Kolesar also had hits. Kinley Thoman would score a run.
Thoman struck out six in the circle.
Troy will take on Susquehanna County on Friday. A win by Susquehanna gives them the district title, if Troy wins they’ll force another winner-take-all game.
