NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: WYALUSING GIRLS, TROY BOYS BOTH EARN SWEEPS (2022-09-28)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — The Wyalusing girls’ cross-country team held off Troy to stay undefeated during NTL action on Tuesday.
The Lady Rams won 26-29 over the Trojans, packing in 4-through-6 to nab the win. They also beat Canton 15-48, while Troy won over Canton 15-45.
Wyalusing’s Kayla Beebe (21:13) won the race with Troy’s Alyssa Parks (21:27) second. Trojan Katie Lackey (22:10) took third, followed by three Rams - Megan King (22:46), Lani Beebe (23:19), and Kassandra Kerin (23:49).
Troy’s Lillian DePew (23:26), Rachel Kingsley (25:16), and Isis Lyon (25:32) went seventh-through-ninth to round out their scorers. Wyalusing’s fifth was Riley Porter (26:01) in 10th.
It was also tight on the boys’ side, with Troy pulling out a 24-32 win over Wyalusing. Troy defeated Canton 15-48, with the Rams winning 16-45 over the Warriors.
Wyalusing’s Jeremy Clouser (18:19) won the race, with Troy’s Lance Heasley (18:24.46) edging out Ram Trennan Tewksbury (18:26.07) for second.
The Trojans then took the next four spots with Brody Campbell (18:57.1), Jacob Hinman (19:03.44), Hart Houseknecht (19:33.76), and Lucas Loxley (19:56.82) to round out their scorers.
Clayton Petlock (20:37.93) was eighth for Wyalusing, followed by Steven Fields (20:46.40) in ninth. Ethan Lewis (21:23.23) took 12th to round out their top five.
Lawrence Halbfoerster (21:14.71) took 11th to lead Canton, with Brayden Vroman (21:37.54) 13th. Simon Wile (23:03.57) was 18th, Joshua Hess (23:04.38) took 19th, and Hunter Huffman (24:24) came in 22nd.
The Rams won both of the junior high races, with Aidan Neiley (9:10) taking the boys’ title, and Alysha Botts (10:42) winning the girls’ race. The Wyalusing boys beat Troy 21-35.
