NTL VOLLEYBALL: WYALUSING FALLS TO NP-LIBERTY (2022-09-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — In a rematch of last year’s District IV, Class AA championship title bout the runners up got revenge, as NP-Liberty swept Wyalusing 3-0 in NTL volleyball action Tuesday.

The first two sets were competitive, with NPL winning 25-20 both times, but they pulled away in the third 25-13.

In the first set the Mounties led 16-13 before pulling away, while Wyalusing was with them 9-8 in the second set for NPL began to slowly pull ahead.

“We haven’t seen anyone hit quick out of the middle, so I’m making some changes in there,” said coach Jennifer Newton. “We might have to make a hardcore line-up change to handle that.”

Newton believes this will be a good adjustment as they get ready to see NPL at the end of the season, when she’s’ hoping her team will be peaking. Right now, though, there’s a little bit of a distraction.

“It’s homecoming,” Newton said. “We’re thinking about hair, nails, dresses, the bonfire, and all that kind of stuff.”

Wyalusing's Hannah Ely was recognized after the second match for earning 250 kills in her career.

Ely had five kills, and 12 digs on the day as Emilee Otis added four aces, four kills, and 10 assists.

London Edwards finished with five kills, and 16 digs, while Priscilla Newton added 10 digs.

Olivia Carr had six kills, while Olivia Leichliter notched three blocks, and two digs. Sarah Watkins chipped in with a kill, six assists, and four digs, as Anna Kipp had two digs.

NPL won the JV match 25-7, 25-17.
