Northern Tier Sports ReportAfter a slow Monday, today things will ramp up hard with cross-country, soccer, volleyball, and Towanda’s final home girls' tennis match of the season.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Montgomery (7-6) at Towanda (3-11), 4 p.m.: The Knights will end the season as they host the Red Raiders, a match that was postponed from last Saturday.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Towanda (1-11) at Troy (1-11), 4 p.m.: The Knights won their first match up in Towanda, so the Trojans will be looking to get some revenge.
NEB (5-6) at Wellsboro (9-2), 5:30 p.m.: The Panthers led the Hornets 2-0 at home last week before falling 4-2. Wellsboro is undefeated in the league as they look to win this year’s title.
CROSS-COUNTRY
Canton, Towanda at Sullivan County, 4:30 p.m.: It might be a chilly one on top of the hill at Laporte for these teams as the Towanda boys’ look to continue their strong season.
Wellsboro, Wyalusing at Athens, 4:30 p.m.: The one to watch will be the Wyalusing and Athens girls’ teams, as both had close wins over Troy in their duals.
NPM, Troy, at NEB, 4:30 p.m.: The Troy-NEB boys’ match-up could be a preview of NTLs and districts, while on the girls’ side each team has runners capable of making states.
VOLLEYBALL
Troy (5-5) at Williamsport (5-4), 7 p.m.: Troy has a tough stretch to end their season, and it starts at Williamsport, a programs that has made a lot of strides recently.
Athens (4-5) at Towanda (3-7), 7:15 p.m.: The Knights host a tough match-up as these two teams will be looking to rebound from a rough stretch of games.
Canton (9-1) at Williamson (7-3), 7:15 p.m.: A big cross-over match between two district semifinalists from a year ago. Wyalusing swept Williamson to start the year, so Canton will need a win here to stay one game up on the Rams in the standings.
Wyalusing (7-4) at NEB (4-5), 7:15 p.m.: The Rams will look to keep pace with Canton in the NTL standings, while the Panthers will be looking to build on their win over Sayre.
