NTL TENNIS: TOWANDA COACH SAW GOOD THINGS IN 'BUILDING YEAR'
(2022-11-13)Northern Tier Sports Report
It wasn’t quite the season Towanda (3-11) was hoping for, but long time coach Lucy Snyder saw some good things.
“Not as good as I had hoped, but we have a very young team, and this was a ‘building’ year,” said Snyder. “We’ve got a couple of nice freshmen coming up the ladder to take the place of our Hannah’s.”
Jocelyn Stroud and Lainey Alderfer both made all-star teams for Towanda out of first and second singles. Alderfer went 6-7 on the season, with Kaitlyn Calaman going 4-4 during singles action.
Their wins came against NPL (4-1), Wellsboro (3-1), and NPL (3-2), though they had close losses to Wellsboro (4-2), NPL (4-1), and even NTL champs CV (3-2).
Going forward they expect some internal improvement to make them more competitive.
“With everybody returning next season we should have a strong team,” said Snyder.
