NTL VOLLEYBALL: CANTON'S WILLIAMS IS THE BC PLAYER OF THE YEAR (2022-11-25)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was another exciting season in Bradford County volleyball, as the NTL Small School title came down to the wire, and two teams from the county made the district finals.

Canton claimed their fifth straight league title, and reached their fifth straight district championship. They did this behind the play of Aislyn Williams, who had to toggle between offensive positions all season, while still bringing her strong defense. That makes Williams the Player of the Year.

Athens rallied late to make the playoffs, and then reached the semifinals, all behind the play of setter Jenny Ryan, who is the Offensive Player of the Year.

Wyalusing’s libero Priscilla Newton finished her career with over 1,000 digs, and had over 500 this season, as she is the Defensive Player of the Year.

It was a youth movement at NEB, with freshman Abby O’Connor making her presence known at the net. She is the Newcomer of the Year.

It was the final year for Canton’s Sheila Wesneski, and, despite injuries and some roster turnover, she was able to end her career on top of the NTL. She is the Coach of the Year.

The first team consists of Canton’s Williams, Jillaney Hartford, and Keri Wesneski, along with Wyalusing’s Newton and Emilee Otis. From Athens is Ryan, and Audrey Clare, with Towanda’s Paige Manchester rounding out the team.

The second team is made up of NEB’s Gabby Susanj, Emma Neuber, and Kiarra DeLancey, Troy’s Meredith Cole and Kali Ayres, Wyalusing’s Hannah Ely, Canton’s Marissa Ostrander, and Athens’ Kassie Babcock.

On the All-Newcomer team are Panthers O’Connor and Kelsea Moore, Canton’s Kendall Kitchen, Tara Gilbert, and Chelsea Lehman, Troy’s Brenna Jackson and Aryana Andrus, Towanda’s Brynn Woodruff, Athens’ Keaton Wiles, and Wyalusing’s Rachel Wilson.
