NTL WRESTLING: CANTON SEES FOUR REACH SEMIFINALS AT ULTIMATE WARRIOR (2023-01-28)

WEST BRANCH — Canton had four wrestlers left after the first day of the Ultimate Warrior Wrestling Tournament on Friday.

Hayden Ward (139), Hudson Ward (145), Riley Parker (189), and Michael Davis (215) were still alive in the semifinals, while Brenen Taylor (160), Cohen Landis (121), Holden Ward (133), and Lyle Vermilya (107) were in the consolations.


Hayden won his first two matches by fall, then scored a 5-1 decision to reach the top four, while Hudson scored a first period fall in his first match, then won back to back decisions of 5-1 and 4-3.


Parker won his first matches with falls, then scored a 4-1 decision to reach the semifinals, while Davis won all three of his bouts by falls - the first two in the opening period.


Taylor won his first match 7-6, then lost by fall. He won his next two bouts 5-0, and 5-3 to stay alive.


Landis lost his first match with a 5-0 decision, but won his next two 7-3 and 13-7.


Holden won his first match with a fall, then lost 8-4. He won his next two 10-2 and 16-3 to stay alive.


Vermilya won his first two bouts 9-7 and 7-3, but lost in the quarter in a 15-0 tech fall to get into the consolations.


Also for Canton Carson Rockwell (127), Will Colton (285) and Ryland Sakers (139) all went 1-2, while Zack Colton (145) and Aydin Holcomb (160) both went 0-2.


Wrestling will finish up on Saturday.
