NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB DROPS GAME TO TOP RANKED BLOOMSBURG (2023-01-30)

ROME — Northeast Bradford came up short in a tough non-league contest against Bloomsburg, falling 67-51, during girls’ basketball action Monday.

Bloomsburg is the top ranked team in the district for Class 3A, and had two girls break the 20-point plateau in the game: Bryn Zentner (20 points) and Madeline Evans (23 points).


Kayleigh Thoman had 20 points to lead NEB, while Alena Beebe netted nine. Kate O’Connor scored eight, Leah Beebe and Emma Neuber had five points apiece, while Lani Thomas and Becca VanDeMark both scored two.


Bloomsburg jumped out to a 13-7 first quarter lead as O’Connor led NEB with four points, while Thoman hit a 3-ball. 


Both offenses picked up in the second, with Bloomsburg running off with 23 points behind nine from Zentner and eight out of Evans. NEB finished with 13 as five different players scored, with Neuber leading the way with four points.


Down 36-21 going into the third quarter, Thoman went off for 10 points to help NEB get back into the game. However, Bloomsburg got six points from Zentner, Evans, and Alyssa Shuman each to increase their lead to 56-33 after three quarters.


In the final frame NEB out scored Bloomsburg 18-11, behind six from Alena Beebe, and five out of Leah Beebe.


NEB (12-3) will travel to Sayre on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start.
