NTL WRESTLING: A LOOK AT THIS WEDNESDAY'S MATCH-UPS FOR DISTRICT DUALS (2023-01-31)

Northern Tier Sports Report
District Duals starts on Wednesday with the first round, and there will be some familiar faces in Towanda that night.

The Knights will be hosting the Rams for the second time in two weeks with a trip to Milton and the quarterfinals on the line.

Towanda

107: Bryghton Yale (7-5)

114: Wyatt Stranger (16-10)

121: Anthony Rifenbark (6-4)

127: Hayden Space (15-10)

133: Rylee Sluyter (18-9)

139: Riley Vanderpool (24-7)

145: Chase Geurin (15-12)

152: Aiden Miller (8-9)

160: Jace Gunther (12-13)

172: Mason Higley (25-4)

189: Sawyer Robinson (22-7)

215: Tristin Conklin (3-11)

285: Audy Vanderpool (21-8)

Wyalusing

107: Isaiah Harvey (20-7)

114: Cole Patrick (25-7)

121: Forfeit

127: C.J. Carr (25-5)

133: Jonathan Earle (18-13)

139: Reuben Kinney (4-8)

145: Cade McMicken (17-10)

152: Ayden Hunsinger (26-5)

160: Ethan Vanderpool (10-13)

172: Jordan Lamb (5-6)

189: Alex Hunsinger (18-13)

215: Zachary Fenton (10-12)

285: Michael Newman (4-11)

In Towanda’s first win Rylee Sluyter’s fall at 133 over Jonathan Earle was the lynchpin for their win. The match was close enough, though, that it’s foreseeable that the Rams could flip it this time around. They’d have to to have any shot at a win.

If Wyalusing flips 133 then 145 would be the other one to watch. Chase Geurin pulled out a close win over Cade McMicken last time. The dual meet was already decided, but if Wyalusing wins at 133, 145 could decide who moves on and who gets ready for sectionals.

Canton

107: Lyle Vermilya (19-8)

114: Joe Luner (2-11)

121: Cohen Lands (16-11)

127: Carson Rockwell (14-9)

133: Holden Ward (17-8)

139: Hayden Ward (23-4)

145: Hudson Ward (29-7)

152: Ryland Sakers (10-13)

160: Aydin Holcomb (2-14)

172: Brenen Taylor (16-10)

189: Riley Parker (22-6)

215: Michael Davis (24-5)

285: Mason Nelson (7-3)

Others: William Colton (285, 3-5), Zack Colton (145, 6-5)

Milton

107: Ty Locke (21-7)

114: Tyler Stokes (8-18)

121: Noah Heimbach (2-1)

127: Connor McCaffrey (1-3)

133: Tyler Geiswite (10-11)

139: Chase Lytle (11-12)

145: Alex DeHart (8-16)

152: Alex Parker (11-14)

160: Alex Hoffman (23-7)

172: Aiden Keiser (11-7)

189: Trey Locke (12-12)

215: Cale Bastian (23-7)

285: Paul Rohland (23-9)

Others: Quinn Keister (139, 10-8)

Milton might have a low seed, but they’ve beaten Lewisburg (40-29) and gave Warrior Run (40-27) a tough battle this season.

Canton has room to shuffle wrestlers around, with Brenen Taylor wrestling at 160 this past weekend, and Hudson Ward bouncing from 145 to 160 when needed.

The Warriors’ toughest opponent this year has been injuries, with Riley Parker not finishing Ultimate Warrior this past weekend.

Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts this Wednesday in Towanda and Canton respectively.
