Northern Tier Sports Report
CANTON — A slow start hurt Canton in their 48-32 loss to NP-Liberty during NTL Division-II girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Warriors found themselves down 26-11 at the half. They would rally in the second half, out scoring the Mounties 21-17, but it wasn’t enough to comeback.

Emmie Tymeson had 13 points to lead Canton, while Molly Ward added seven points, 17 boards, three assists, and three steals.

Carolyn Thoren notched six points to go with five rebounds as Sammy Brackman had four points. Kendall Kitchen returned to score two points, while Jazmyn Hickok had one point and four boards.

Haley Litzelman had 15 points for NPL.

Litzelman went off for 10 points in the first quarter - including two 3-balls - to give NPL an 18-6 lead at the first horn. Thoren had four points to lead the Warriors.

The Mounties had just eight points in the second quarter, but Canton only managed five as Thoren and Ward both had buckets.

In the third Tymeson helped rally Canton with eight points on four field goals to cut it to 35-23. Brackman and Tymeson would both next threes in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as NPL had four field goals to hold on for the win.

Canton (7-11) will host CV on Friday.
