NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TROY JUMPS OUT EARLY IN WIN OVER WILLIAMSON (2023-02-01)

TROY — Troy jumped out to a 17-2 first quarter lead and never looked back as they defeated Williamson 58-28 during NTL Division-I girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Alyssa Parks led three different Trojans in double-figures with 15 points on 6-for-12 shooting. She also had three rebounds and three assists.


Rachel Kingsley added 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting with eight boards and four steals as Kailyn Sterling had 10 points in 5-for-8 shooting. She nabbed two steals.


MaKenna Matthews was a perfect 3-for-3 for seven points, while Katie Lackey had five points and four boards.


Amber White chipped in with four points, with Ella VanNoy, Kendall Allen, and Gloria Andrews scoring two points each. Allen added four boards as Andrews had three assists.


Taylor Rae-Jones had 18 points to lead the Warriors.


Kingsley led Troy’s big first quarter, netting four buckets for eight points as five different Trojans scored. They added 15 points in the second quarter behind six from Sterling and five out of Parks to take a 32-6 halftime lead.


Troy had another 17 point frame in the third as Parks had eight points, including two 3-balls, while Matthews had all seven of hers. That put Troy up by a comfortable margin of 49-15.


Troy (12-5) will travel to NP-Mansfield on Saturday.
