NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: CANTON PULLS AWAY FROM NP-MANSFIELD IN 4TH FOR WIN (2021-01-16)

MANSFIELD — Canton broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to beat North Penn-Mansfield 44-26 in NTL Division girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Emme Tymeson led the way with 11 points and four steals for Canton while Molly Ward had a double-double of 10 points and 14 boards to go with four steals.


Aislyn Williams finished with nine points, four boards and four assists as Reagan Kelley and Gracie Mead had six points apiece. Kelley chipped in with 10 rebounds with Mead adding four rebounds and two steals.


Courteny Weiskopff chipped in with two points.


It was a low scoring first quarter as the Lady Warriors led just 6-5 but a 15 point second quarter, led by Tymeson’s eight points, put Canton up 21-12 at the half.


The Tigers clawed back some in the third, out scoring Canton 10-8 to cut it to 29-22 going into the final frame.


In the fourth the Warriors exploded for 15 points as five different players scored. They also held NPM to just four to pull away for the win.


Elizabeth Kahl led the Tigers with nine points.


Canton hosts Wellsboro next Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start.
