NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA, TROY COMPETE AT FLYNN DUALS (UPDATED) (2021-01-16)

TOWANDA — Towanda went 2-1 and Troy finished 1-2 at Towanda’s Annual Flynn Duals on Saturday.

The Knights beat Williamson 48-13 and the Trojans 42-30 but fell to Montgomery 61-12.

Troy lost to Montgomery as well, 52-16 but beat Williamson 45-28.

In the Knight win over Troy it was the Trojans taking an early lead.

Towanda’s Alex Perez led thins off with a fall over Brady Sergeant in 58 seconds at 285, but after that, Troy won the next four bouts.

At Caleb Schwenk (106) pinned John Parker in 52 seconds, Kenyon Slater (113) pinned Dalton Lunn in 1:58, Joseph Schwenk (120) earned a 10-3 decision over Mykee Nowell and Seth Seymour (126) scored a forfeit.

That gave Troy a 21-6 lead five matches in.

Towanda took control after that, though, winning the next five bouts by fall.

Joseph Vanderpool (132) pinned Jacob Hinman in 5:03, Dillon Gallagher (138) pinned Peyton Bellows in 1:07, Garrett Chapman (145) pinned Eli Randall in 2:37, Evan Johnson (152) pinned LaceyHinman in 30 seconds and Brandon Lantz (160) pinned Evan Short in 3:18.

That put Towanda up 36-21 with three bouts to go.

Troy rallied at 172 as Mason Woodward pinned Zayne McPeak in 1:22 while at 189 Trojan Josh Isbell edged out Spencer Jennings 9-8 to cut it to 36-30.

However, Troy forfeited to Clay Watkins at 215, making it a 42-30 final.

In Towanda’s win over Williamson the Knights took 10 of the 13 bouts.

They won the first two as Jennings (189) pinned Ian Bump in 1:46 while Watkins (215) edged out Mike Sipps 4-3.

Down 9-0, Wiliamson’s Kade Sottolano got his team on the scoreboard with a 3-0 win over Perez to cut it to 9-3.

Towanda took the next two matches as Parker (106) pinned Wyatt Dacheux in 41 seconds while Lunn (113) pinned Chelsea Hungerford in 1:21, putt them up 22-3.

Williamson would get a forfeit at 120 to Carter Gontarz while at a126 Ayden Sprague scored an 11-3 major decision over Nowell, cutting the deficit to 22-13.

That’s when Towanda went on a seven match winning spree.

Vanderpool (132) pinned Christian Falkler in 1:22, Dillon Gallagher (138) won 10-5 over Nathaniel Welch, Chapman (145) earned a 6-4 victory over Aidric Passerallo, Johnson (152) pinned Joel Hultz in 37 seconds, McPeak (160) scored a forfeit and Lantz (172) eked out a 3-0 win over Jacob Peffer.

In Towanda’s loss to Montgomery, they got two wins, both by forfeit - Watkins at 215 and Gallagher at 138.

After things led off at 215 Montgomery’s Bradley Leon won 5-2 over Perez at heavyweight.

At 106 Breannan Emery pinned Parker in 4:47 while Blake Snyder (113) pinned Lunn in 1:00. At 120 Caden Finck scored a 16-0 technical fall in 3:15 over Nowell.

Devin Beachel (126) earned a forfeit followed by Hunter Leet pinning Vanderpool in 1:26. After Gallagher’s forfeit Conner Harer (145) pinned Chapman in 21 seconds.

Devon Deem (152) pinned Johnson in 1:46 followed by Kaide Drick (160) pinning McPeak in 1:01. At 172 Colby Springman pinned Lantz in 2:36 while at 189 Ben Marino won a 16-1 technical fall in 5:23 over Spencer Jennings.

In the Red Raiders’ win over the Trojans Troy got wins at 106, 126 and 138.

At 106 Caleb Schwenk scored a 10-2 major decision over Emery while at 126 Seymour pinned Beachel in 3:48. Bellows got a forfeit win at 138.

After Troy went 4-0 after 106 Montgomery won the next two matches. Snyder (113) pinned Slater in 40 seconds while at 120 Finck pinned Joseph Schwenk in 1:25.

Seymour’s win at 126 cut it to 12-10 followed by Leet (132) earning a 15-3 major decision over Jacob Hinman to extend the lead to 16-10.

Bellows’ forfeit win tied things up, but the Red Raiders finished the match with seven straight wins, four of them by falls.

Harer (145) pinned Randall in 30 seconds, Deem (152) pinned Lacy Hinman in 30 seconds and Drick (160) pinned Short in 2:45.

At 172 Springman decisioned Woodward 8-2 while at 189 Marino decisioned Isbell 8-2.

Leon (215) scored a forfeit while Weston Pick (285) pinned Sergeant in 1:58.

Williamson won the first two bouts as Sipps (215) took a forfeit while Sottolano (285) pinned Sargeant in 34 seconds.

Down 12-0 Troy tied it up with falls by Caleb Schwenk (106) and Slater (113) over Dacheux in 19 seconds and Hungerford in 48 seconds.

Gontarz (120) put the Warriors back up with a fall over Joseph Schwenk in 1:57, taking an 18-12 lead.

That's when Troy rattled off three straight wins, led by Seymour's (126) fall over Sprague in 2:58. Jacob Hinman (132) scored a 10-5 decision over Christian Falkler  followed by Bellows pinning Welch in 3:33.

That put the Trojans up 27-18.

Williamson's Passerallo scored a 9-1 major over Lacey Hinman at 145, followed by Hultz pinning Randall at 152 to give them a 28-27 advantage.

Troy won the next three bouts, though, as Short (160) scored a forfeit, Woodward (172) pinned Peffer in 1:18 and Isbell (189) pinned Bump in 1:27 for the win.
