NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: IMBT, BARRETT LEAD TROY PAST NORTHWEST (2021-01-18)

TROY — Troy continued to romp through their early season schedule, this time beating Northwest 66-47 in non-league boys’ basketball action Monday.

Ty Barrett netted 24 points, 16 of them in the first and fourth quarters combined. Mason Imbt added 16 points as Nick Williams finished with 14.

Ethan VanNoy chipped in with five points while Jake Deitrick, Zeb Oldroyd and Devin Selleck had two points apiece. Owen Williams finished with one.

The Trojans jumped out 14-4 in the first quarter as Ty Barrett and Mason Imbt combined for 12 points.

The Rangers, though, caught fire in the second quarter as Matt Pierontoni scored 10 of his 13 in the quarter while Taylor Yaple added five points to net 21. 

Troy, though, answered with 21 points of their own to take a 34-25 as Williams netted seven.

The Trojans out scored Northwest 17-13 in the third quarter behind five from Williams to take a 51-38 lead into the final frame. 

In the fourth Barrett took over with nine points as Troy pulled away for the win.

Yaple led the Rangers with 14 points.

Troy (3-0) is back in action on Wednesday at Towanda with a 6 p.m. start.
