NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA HAS SIX PLACE WINNERS AT JARVIS (2021-01-23)

ATHENS – Towanda had six wrestlers place at Athens’ Jarvis Tournament Saturday.

John Parker (106) won an individual title while Evan Johnson (152), Spencer Jennings (189) and Clay Watkins (215) all took home silver.


Alex Perez (285) won bronze in a tough heavyweight bracket with Dillon Gallagher (138) also taking third.


Parker pinned Williamson’s Wyatt Dacheaux in 32 seconds to win his bout.


At 152 Johnson won three matches by fall but lost to Athens’ Chris Bathgate. All of his falls came in the first minute.


Zane McPeak also competed at 152 and went 0-4 on the day.


At 189 Jennings went 3-1, with two falls. He also beat Athens’ Colin Rosh 9-3 but fell to Benton’s Jake Bobersky by fall.


Watkins went 0-3 during the round robin at 215 but in the medal round he beat Benton’s Zach Poust 3-2 to reach the final. In the final he fell to Williamson’s Mike Sipps 3-1.


At 285 pounds Perez went 1-1 with a decision win in the round robin. In the medal round he won by forfeit then fell to Williamson’s Kade Sottolano by fall.


At 138 pounds Gallagher went 3-1 with all his wins by fall.


Towanda’s Garrett Chapman (145) went 1-3 on the day while Brandon Lantz (160) was 0-3 in the round robin and took fourth in the medal round.


The Knights host Athens on Wednesday.
