ON TAP TODAY: BIG DAY FOR RUNNERS AS CROSS-COUNTRY LEAGUE CHAMPS WILL BE DECIDED (2024-10-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportA busy day headlined by NTL cross-country deciding their league champions for 2024, while on the volleyball court Troy has another big match as they travel to NP-Liberty.
CROSS-COUNTRY
NEB, NP-Mansfield, Sayre at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The NTL Small School title will be decided. NEB boys pretty much have their championship locked up, but the girls’ is an open battle between NEB and Wyalusing.
Canton, Troy, Athens at Sullivan County, 4:30 p.m.: The Troy boys will be looking to finish off their NTL Large School title, as they needed a sweep here to clinch it.
Towanda, Wellsboro at CV, 4:30 p.m.: The Towanda girls will be looking to clinch their NTL Large School title with a sweep. It should be a fast individual girls’ race between Towanda’s Izzy Larson and Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek.
VOLLEYBALL
Troy (9-1) at NP-Liberty (6-3), 7:30 p.m.: The first match-up between the two teams as NPL has won two straight after losing three of four.
Towanda (4-5) at Athens (1-6), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights won the first match 3-0 as they look to get back to .500 in their race for a playoff spot.
NEB (11-0) at Wyalusing (3-7), 7:30 p.m.: After inching towards .500 the Rams have lost three straight, though they did put up a fight in a 3-1 loss at Canton.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
NEB (2-10-2) at Wyalusing (5-4-2), 4 p.m.: The Rams have gone 0-4-1 over their last five as they need to pick up some wins to get into the playoffs. This will be the first of NEB’s final four games on the road.
Troy (11-1) at Towanda (4-6), 6 p.m.: The Trojans are riding high off their big win over Shikellamy. This will be the second of four games this week for Towanda.
