NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: NEB USES BIG FIRST QUARTER TO TOP CV

ROME — Northeast Bradford jumped out to a 28-8 first quarter lead en route to a 65-44 win over CV in NTL boys’ basketball action Friday.
Nick Beers had 21 points, nine boards, three assists, two steals and two blocks for the Panthers as Lucas Crown netted 14 points to go with three boards, two assists and two steals.
Dan Seeley finished with 10 points, four boards and four steals, while Ethan Finch and Sam Abell had eight points apiece. Abell added six boards, five assists and three steals as Finch had four rebounds and two assists.
Dan Williams finished with three points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, with Julian Jampo netting one point with three boards and three assists.
Tucker St. Peter had 17 points to lead CV as Ben Cooper netted 14. McGuire Painter notched seven, while Caleb Morgan, Joe Easton and Gage Tilton had two points each.
NEB blitzed CV early for an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes. They scored their 25th point with 1:30 left on the clock in the first frame.
Things slowed down in the second, though, as CV cut it to 32-17 with a minute to go in the half. That’s when Crown went on a 4-0 run to end the second quarter, making it 36-17 at the midway point.
The two teams played it even in the third, 13-13, as Beers had six points for NEB and Painter had five for CV.
In the fourth NEB out scored them 16-14 for the win, being Beers’ six points.
The Panthers host Athens Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. start.
