Troy senior Evan Woodward and junior Brendan Gilliland led to their first District 4 football title in 11 years, while Corning junior Olivia Martinec had the best finish from the region at the New York State Cross Country meet. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Oct. 16.

Woodward and Gilliland accounted for six TDs in Troy's 59-14 win over Warrior Run for its first District 4 title since 2013.

Woodward ran for 197 yards and two TDs on just nine carries. He also complete 5 of 7 passes for 87 yards and one TD.

Gilliland added 188 rushing yards and three TDs on 13 carries.

Defensively, Gilliland had five tackles, including one tackle-for-loss, and Woodward added three tackles.

CORNING's MARTINEC NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Martinec had the top finish for runners in The Sports Report coverage, and was second among Section IV competitors at the New York State cross country meet.

Martinec finished 40th in 19:08.7 to lead Corning to a ninth-place finish in the team standings.
