NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TROY HOLDS OFF NP-MANSFIELD (2021-02-26)

MANSFIELD — Troy used a strong first half to beat NP-Mansfield, 33-25, in their regular season NTL girls’ basketball game Friday.

Hannah Zimmerman had 12 points to lead the Trojans, with Katie Lackey netting eight. Rachel Kingsley scored six, Sydney Taylor had three points and Bailey Johnson netted two.

Ella Farree and Sarah Spohn had nine points each for the Tigers, as Elizabeth Kahl notched four, Shaniya Sparrow had two and McKenna Lightner finished with one.

The Trojans jumped out to an 11-4 first quarter lead on the back of seven points from Zimmerman. Troy pushed their advantage to 18-7 at the half as Zimmerman netted five more points.

The teams played to a 9-9 draw in the third quarter, as Farrer scored all nine of her points in the quarter to spark NPM. Lackey had four points to lead Troy.

The Tigers held Troy to six points in the final frame, but only notched nine themselves, behind five points from Spohn.

The Trojans will now wait to see who their Class AAA, District IV playoff opponent will be.
