SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — The Lady Warriors clawed their way back from a seven point deficit to tie the game up in the fourth quarter against South Williamsport Saturday afternoon, but were outscored 9-5 in the extra period and fell 36-32.

Canton outscored the Lady Mounties 11-4 in the fourth, and Gracie Mead’s jumper at the 2-minute mark tied the score at 25.

After a SW turnover, Emmie Tymeson hit a jumper to give the Warriors the lead - their first of the game. After forcing another Mountie turnover, Canton inbounded under their own basket and Reagan Kelley was fouled in the act, but was unable to convert and the teams headed to overtime.

Aislyn Williams hit the first of two free throws to start the overtime period, and Molly Ward gathered up Williams’ miss and was fouled on her attempted putback. Ward hit one of her free throws, giving Canton the 29-27 lead.

After Ward drew a charge, SW’s Claudia Green came up with a steal and a layup to tie the game, then drained a three pointer for a 32-29 lead.

South Williamsport’s coach was issued a technical foul, sending Williams to the line. The Canton sophomore hit the second freebie, and with the possession following the technical, Tymeson scored to again tie the score, 32-32.

After a missed attempt, and with 27 seconds left, the Mounties came up with a steal and a layup, giving them the 34-32 lead. A Canton turnover forced the Warriors to intentionally foul with just 20 seconds left. Sofia Cassella calmly drained both free throws for the four-point advantage.

Canton had 20 seconds left, down four, but we’re unable to get a shot off until only three seconds remained.

Williams led Canton with 13 points, as Kelley added 10. Tymeson scored four points, and Mead and Courteney Weiskopft each had a pair. Ward chipped in with a point.

The loss completes the Warriors season, as they finish with a 5-14 mark.
