NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: BENNETT LEADS TOWANDA PAST NP-MANSFIELD (2021-02-27)

TOWANDA — A day after seeing Paige Manchester go off for 27 points, Towanda’s Porschia Bennett scored 26 in the Lady Knights’ 59-28 NTL girls’ win over NP-Mansfield.

The victory was Towanda’s regular season finale.


Bennett added five boards, three steals and three assists in the win as Manchester had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals.


Amanda Horton netted six points and four assists, while Eliza Fowler had five points. Kenadie Packard and Erin Barrett scored four points apiece, with Barrett grabbing nine boards and handing out two assists.


Aziza Ismailova and Gracie Schoonover both chipped in with two points, as Ally Hurley had three boards and three steals.


Shaniya Sparrow led NPM with nine points as Grace Farrer scored six. Payton Chapel netted five, Sarah Spohn notched four with Elizabeth Kahl and Ella Farrer scoring two points apiece.


It was a tight ball game early, as Towanda led just 8-7 after the first quarter. Bennett had all eight Knight points, with Chapel scoring all five of her points in the first.


A 17-4 run by the Knights in the second gave them a 25-11 lead at the halfway point. Bennett had eight more points in the second quarter as Manchester chipped in with five. 


A 19-6 third quarter by Towanda secured the win. Bennett had seven points as Manchester netted five again.


The Knights will now wait and see who they host in the District IV, Class AAA quarterfinals next week.
