NTL WRESTLING: CANTON HAS 5 FIRST TEAM ALL-STARS (2021-03-23)

Canton had five NTL Wrestling First Team All-Stars, along with the Coaching Staff of the Year Award, as named by the league coaches recently.

Isaac Landis (120), Bailey Ferguson (132), Hayden Ward (138), Hudson Ward (145) and Riley Parker (160) all earned First Team honors. The coaching staff consists of Lyle Wesneski (head coach), Chris Landis, Dereck Leiby, Jeremy Route, Randy Gilliland and Bill Holland.

Athens’ Gavin Bradley was named the Wrestler of the Year.

Other First Team wrestlers are: Wyalusing’s Clayton Carr (106), Bradley (113), Troy’s Seth Seymour (126), Wyalusing’s Nick Woodruff (152), NPL’s Kohen Lehman (172), Wyalusing’s Zach Shaffer (189), Towanda’s Clay Watkins (215) and Williamson’s Kade Sottolano (285).

The Second Team consists of Canton’s Cohen Landis (106), Troy’s Joseph Schwenk (1130, Athens’ Mason Vanderpool (120) and Jacob Courtney (126), NPL’s Patriot June (132), Athens’ Kaden Setzer (138), Williamson’s Joel Hultz (145), Athens’ Karter Rude (160) and Zach Stafursky (172), Canton’s Derek Atherton-Ely (189), Williamson’s Mike Sipps (215) and Towanda’s Alex Perez (285).

Towanda’s Evan Johnson and Canton’s Michael Davis are the Co-Second Teamers at 152 pounds.

The NTL Wrestling Coaches Association would also like to give special thanks to Athens’ assistant coach Jay White in recognition of his efforts by organizing tournaments to provide wrestling opportunities during this Covid-19 disrupted season.

Athens was able to hold four different tournaments - two varsity, two junior high - in 2021.
